This training bridges the gap between physical exercise and creative movement practice. The result is an inspiring fusion of yoga and dance that strengthens your health and brings you creative joy: Yogadance.
In your 70-hour Yogadance training, you’ll learn to combine yoga asanas—the classic yoga poses—with movements from ballet and modern dance, all set to rousing music.
Of course, learning how to perform all these movements in a contemporary and healthy way is also part of your foundational training. Using techniques from dance and acting, you’ll take the ultimate step forward and learn to unleash your creative personality.
Now you’re ready to develop your own Yogadance choreographies, step by step.
In your Yogadance foundational training, you’ll learn a systematic approach to giving and receiving artistically valuable feedback that’s relevant to your Yogadance practice. By the end of the training, you’ll be able to effectively use music as a tool for your Yogadance, understand the key principles of anatomy in Yogadance, and develop choreographies based on these principles—using various tools from dance and theater techniques—as well as provide artistic feedback.
The training program is hybrid. In addition to the three in-person weekends in Leipzig, you’ll have access to online instructional videos. The first instructional videos will be made available right on time for the start of the training in April. It’s up to you when you watch and work through the individual videos. However, the videos and in-person sessions build on one another chronologically. It therefore makes sense to have worked through the released instructional videos before the respective weekends in Leipzig.
Prior experience in dance and yoga is helpful but not required to participate in the training program.
Your instructor:
Mareike Dobberthien is a trained actress with a degree in theater studies, as well as a teacher of movement arts and a founding member of the Barre Association of Germany. Yogadance is her own interpretation of yoga practice combined with dance and acting techniques. Here, her years of experience on stage, in teaching the arts, and in dance come together to form a great passion. In the 70-hour Yogadance foundational training program with Barre Studios Leipzig, Mareike shares her knowledge in a structured format for the first time.
